El mes de febrero es muy especial en el calendario rotario ya que ha sido designado como el Mes de la Comprensión Mundial. Este mes incluye también el aniversario de la primera reunión de Rotary el día 23 de febrero de 1905, ahora designado como el Día de la Comprensión y la Paz Mundial.
Al designar el mes de La Comprensión Mundial, la Junta Directiva de Rotary Internacional, pide a todos los clubes que tengan programas en sus reuniones semanales y lleven a cabo actividades especiales para enfatizar “La comprensión y la buena voluntad como partes esenciales de la paz mundial”.
Para festejar este mes, muchos clubes procuran tener oradores internacionales, invitan a estudiantes de intercambio de jóvenes y a estudiantes internacionales de escuelas y universidades a las reuniones del club, planean programas con ex integrantes de Intercambio de Grupos de Estudio, tienen discusiones sobre temas internacionales, presentan entretenimiento con un tema internacional cultural o artístico y diseñan otros programas haciendo énfasis en su internacionalidad.
Muchos clubes aprovechan la oportunidad para lanzar un proyecto de servicio en la comunidad mundial o contactarse con un club rotario en otro país. Es un buen mes para iniciar un Intercambio Rotario de Amistad, un Proyecto 3-H o apoyo a cualquier programa de La Fundación Rotaria o PolioPlus.
El Mes de La Comprensión Mundial es una oportunidad para cada club a que planee y promueva la Cuarta Avenida, Servicio Internacional, - la búsqueda continua de Rotary para el buen entendimiento, la paz y la comprensión entre toda gente del mundo. |

 If you are a Rotarian, or a friend referred by a Rotarian, and plan to visit Quito, then you have it made!
Why this unique opportunity?
To financially support important programs, such as constructing water purification systems and sponsoring daycares in low-income areas, the members of the Rotary Club Quito Norte have decided to open our homes to guests from around the world.
Who can take advantage of this special home lodging program?
Active or retired Rotarians, spouses of Rotarians, or friends referred by Rotarians.
What do we offer?
- Lodging in the homes of the members of the Quito Norte Rotary Club in Quito, Ecuador (the nations’ capital).
- Comfortable rooms with queen size bed and a private bathroom.
- Internet service.
- Transportation to and from the airport to be provided by your hosts.
- Continental breakfast and an optional light snack at night.

Of course we can. Please also let Margarita know if you require assistance in planning your activities during your visit to Quito and the rest of Ecuador. We can facilitate contact with Vicente, our contact at a well-known travel agency, and he will assist you in planning tours and/or transportation while in Ecuador.
You can visit the Galapagos Islands, beautiful colonial cities like Cuenca, eco-resorts in the Amazon jungle, the traditional indigenous market in Otavalo, and much more.
When am I required to make the donation?
Payment of two nights is required to hold your reservation, and payment for any additional nights is due upon arrival.
How can I make the donation (payment)?
 One option is to make the donation with cash or travelers checks upon arrival. The second option is to use your credit card via PayPal. To do so, please click on the PayPal logo on our web site. With PayPal, a worldwide online payment organization, you can use any major credit card. After making the donation, PayPal will send you an invoice confirming the transaction. However, please communicate with Margarita before initiating any type of payment to confirm the details of your trip and receive further instructions.
How do you use this funds?
Donations for the bed and breakfast programs go to cover crucial programs such as:
- Construction of water purification systems for elementary schools in rural areas
- Support of daycare centers in low-income neighborhoods, particularly for children from families whose mothers need to work in order to support the family.

Other things to remember:
Visitors must be fully covered by medical and any other required insurance.
The temperature in Quito is usually in the mid-60’s Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) year-round
